Best Medigap Plans in Florida

Also called Medigap plans, these supplements are standardized. There are 10 plans available. This makes it easy to compare prices.

You must be enrolled in Parts A and B to enroll in a Florida Medigap plan. Everyone has a 6-month open enrollment window that begins with their Part B effective date. You can join any Medigap plan during this period without any health questions.

Many major well-known carriers offer Medigap plans in Florida. This includes AetnaMutual of Omaha, and United Healthcare among others. Our agency works with all of these carriers. We can help you compare plans and prices.

In recent years, Medicare Supplement Plans F and G have been very popular.  They are considered among the best Medicare supplement plans in Florida.

Florida Medicare Supplement Plan F

Medicare Plan F is popular because it covers all the gaps.  Sometimes people refer to it as Medigap Plan F. With Medicare supplements, you can see any doctor that accepts Medicare.

If you like first-dollar coverage, a Medicare Supplement Plan F is a good choice. Medicare will pay its share, and then your Medicare supplement carrier will cover the rest. This leaves nothing for you to pay.

It’s important to note that Medicare Supplement Plan F will not be available after 2020. People already enrolled in Plan F can keep it. However, new enrollees in 2020 and beyond will not be able to purchase it.

For this reason, Medicare Supplement Plan G has been gaining in popularity. We consider it one of the best Florida Medicare supplements plans in 2018.

Florida Medicare Supplement Plan G in 2022

Medicare Supplement Plan G is similar to Plan F except you agree to pay the Part B deductible. After that, the plan works just like Plan F. Plan G can sometimes be a better value because of lower premiums.

Our agents are familiar with Florida Medicare insurance plans. We can use our quoting software to provide you rates. Our reports also list each company’s financial ratings and history of increases. This helps to identify which plans are most cost-effective.

Choosing Medigap plans in Florida can be overwhelming because there are so many choices. Learn the differences between Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans before you enroll. The two types of coverage work differently.

How to Apply For Medicare in Florida

You will apply for Medicare Parts A and B via Social Security. You can go in person to the local Social Security office if you like. The SSA also offers convenient online applications.

You can apply for Medicare as early as 3 months before your 65th birthday. Your enrollment window ends 3 months after your birthday month. If you miss this window and do not have other creditable coverage, you may owe a late penalty.

Some Florida residents may qualify for Medicare early due to disability. Medicare will automatically enroll you into Parts And B upon the 24th month of your disability income. People with Lou Gehrig’s disease can qualify for Medicare immediately. Benefits will start the same month that your disability benefits begin.
