At the Benefit Link we work with great insurance companies offering Medicare Supplement plans for New York residents.
Many offer the most popular plans like Plan F and Plan G. Let us assist with the basics. New York Medicare Plans include 10 standardized options, lettered A – N. Each insurance company must offer at least Plan A, but companies can offer any of the other plans as well.
Our agency works with some of the best New York Medicare Plan F and Plan G insurance companies, such as Aetna, Bankers Fidelity, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, and Transamerica.
You can find a complete list of our Medicare insurance providers here.
NY Medicare supplements help you to pay for things that Medicare itself does not cover. The most common covered benefits are your co-insurance and also deductibles for hospital and outpatient services.
In this state, Medicare supplements must be community rated. This means that everyone pays the same rate regardless of age or pre-existing health conditions. You can apply for a Medigap policy during any time of year and feel confident that you will be accepted. Some carriers may apply a six-month waiting period for coverage of pre-existing conditions if no prior creditable coverage was in place before your application. Be sure to ask about this when gathering quotes. The good news is that an insurer cannot turn down your application for coverage.
Supplements offered in this state have the same benefits as those offered in other states. There are 10 basic plans that each cover a certain set of medical benefits. The insurance companies have labeled them as Plan A – Plan N. In general, if you choose a plan letter with less benefits than another plan letter, you will likely find lower premiums than a plan with more coverage. Insurance carriers operating in New York must offer at least Medigap Plan A, B and either C of F. If they offer these, they can choose which of the other plan letters they choose to sell.
There is no charge to clients for our services. We would be honored to help walk you through this process!
