Short Term Care Insurance is a type of policy that helps cover custodial, skilled nursing, and home health care. While similar to traditional Long Term Care, it has a few key differences—most notably, Short Term Care covers costs within 365 days, whereas Long Term Care provides coverage for much longer periods, typically 2 to 7 years. To qualify for coverage, you must be unable to perform at least two of the six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, eating, getting in or out of bed or a chair, moving around, and using the bathroom.
