At the Benefit Link we work with great insurance companies offering Medicare Supplement plans for Idaho Senior Citizens.
Many offer the most popular plans like Plan F and Plan G.
Let us assist with the basics. Idaho Medicare plans include 10 standardized options, lettered A – N. Each insurance company must offer at least Plan A, but companies can offer any of the other plans as well.
Our agency works with some of the best Idaho Medicare Plan F and Plan G insurance companies, such as Aetna, Bankers Fidelity, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, and Transamerica.
You can find a complete list of our Medicare insurance providers here.
Idaho Medicare Supplement plans assist people with paying for items not covered by their original Medicare benefits. When a person first enrolls in Medicare, they often are surprised to find that Medicare doesn’t pay for everything.
For example, you are responsible to pay for your hospital and outpatient medical deductibles. You must also pay 20% of your medical outpatient services. This can get quite expensive without some help.
An Idaho Medicare Supplement, also called Idaho Medigap, is designed to prevent you from extreme financial exposure in the event of a serious health condition. There are 10 Idaho Medicare supplements to choose from, and each one covers a certain set of items.
For example, all Medicare supplements cover the 20% outpatient coinsurance that you would normally owe, but not all of them cover the Medicare Part A hospital deductible, which is over $1300.
Some carriers in Idaho have issue-age plans. This means your base rate is set at the age you are when you buy the policy. For example, you will pay less when you buy the policy at 65 than if you buy at age 68 or 70. All Idaho Medicare supplement plans will usually still have annual rate increases for inflation though.
Some companies also offer attained-age Medicare supplement policies in Idaho. We can quote both types to see which one offers you the better value.
A Plan F Medicare Supplement is the most comprehensive of the various Idaho Medicare supplement plans. This plan covers all of the gaps in Medicare.
If you have a hospital stay, you will not have to worry about the deductible, because this plan will pay for it. Likewise, if you have open heart surgery, your Plan F Idaho Medigap policy will also pay for the 20% coinsurance that you would normally be responsible for under Part B. It is a first-dollar coverage plan.
It’s important to remember that there are some things Medicare simply doesn’t cover, such as dental and vision benefits. Your Idaho Medicare supplement does not provide any benefit for these either. Medicare supplements can only pay after Medicare first approves the claim and pays its share.
However our agency can help you with individual dental and vision plans.
Effective January 1st, 2018, the Idaho Department of Insurance amended its rule regarding Medicare supplement insurance for people under 65. All insurance companies that offer Medigap plans will be required to offer those plans to eligible individuals of ALL ages enrolled in Part B. This includes beneficiaries under age 65.
